A domestic abuse survivor was initially denied legal aid by the Legal Aid Agency (LAA), which deemed her ineligible because her son did not live with her. The LAA's assessment failed to consider the circumstances of the child's living arrangements. Represented by the Public Law Project, the woman challenged the decision in the High Court. On 8th March 2023, the court ruled in her favour, setting a precedent for future legal aid applications involving shared parenting arrangements.
