Sheeja Sukumaran joined Goodman Ray in January 2016 to set up a domestic abuse team and was promoted to partner in April 2025.

Sheeja has over twenty years of experience in domestic and honour-based abuse, and her grit and determination to do this work remains unwavered. She also advises on private law children act applications including बाल व्यवस्था, Prohibited Steps Specific Issue applications, and Leave to Remove from the jurisdiction applications. She specialises in Emergency applications linked with domestic abuse and complex relational structures within the family, including Non-Molestation, Occupation and Transfer of Tenancy Orders.
Sheeja is a visionary, a passionate and forward-thinking lawyer who works in creative ways to protect survivors of domestic abuse and “so called” honour based abuse. She has not only worked hard to protect the vulnerable and children affected by domestic abuse, but continues to be part of the solution, by building up generations of lawyers committed to working in this field. Sheeja has demonstrated a strong record of securing successful results for domestic abuse clients facing complex allegations of coercive control, sexual violence and parental alienation.
Sheeja is renowned for her excellent client care skills and ability to guide clients through the legal process with the utmost ease and reassurance. She is recognised for offering clear, practical advice and for approaching delicate situations with genuine empathy and care. She is known for her deep knowledge of the law, unwavering commitment to her clients, and her ability to remain astute and fearless even in the most challenging situations. Sheeja was awarded the IKWRO – Women’s Rights Organisation’s True Honour Award in April 2025, which is given to individuals and organisations that have taken a stand against ‘honour-based’ abuse.
Sheeja is a panel member of Resolution and is a Law Society Accredited Family Panel Member.
