Em Inglaterra e no Pa\u00eds de Gales, existe legisla\u00e7\u00e3o espec\u00edfica sobre a MGF, que \u00e9 utilizada para impedir que a MGF tenha lugar ou para proteger uma crian\u00e7a que possa j\u00e1 ter sido sujeita a MGF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A MGF \u00e9 considerada uma pr\u00e1tica consuetudin\u00e1ria por algumas culturas e cren\u00e7as, pelo que a maior parte dos procedimentos n\u00e3o s\u00e3o realizados em ambientes seguros do ponto de vista cir\u00fargico, o que normalmente significa que o risco de danos f\u00edsicos para as raparigas submetidas \u00e0 mutila\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 ainda maior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial de Sa\u00fade define a MGF como\u2018<em>todos os procedimentos que impliquem a remo\u00e7\u00e3o parcial ou total dos \u00f3rg\u00e3os genitais femininos externos, ou outras les\u00f5es dos \u00f3rg\u00e3os genitais femininos por raz\u00f5es n\u00e3o m\u00e9dicas\u2019.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A MGF \u00e9 classificada em 4 tipos principais:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"schema-faq wp-block-yoast-faq-block accordion\"><div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1719580702618\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Tipo 1: Frequentemente designada por clitoridectomia<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Trata-se da remo\u00e7\u00e3o parcial ou total do cl\u00edtoris (uma parte pequena, sens\u00edvel e er\u00e9til dos \u00f3rg\u00e3os genitais femininos) e, em casos muito raros, apenas do prep\u00facio (a prega de pele que rodeia o cl\u00edtoris).<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1719580763638\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Tipo 2: Frequentemente designado por excis\u00e3o<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Trata-se da remo\u00e7\u00e3o parcial ou total do cl\u00edtoris e dos pequenos l\u00e1bios (as pregas interiores da vulva), com ou sem excis\u00e3o dos grandes l\u00e1bios (as pregas exteriores da pele da vulva).<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1719580775770\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Tipo 3: Frequentemente designado por infibula\u00e7\u00e3o<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Trata-se do estreitamento do orif\u00edcio vaginal atrav\u00e9s da cria\u00e7\u00e3o de um selo de cobertura.
