{"id":20653,"date":"2025-08-01T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goodmanray.com\/?p=20653"},"modified":"2025-07-31T10:33:54","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T09:33:54","slug":"domestic-abuse-protection-notices-orders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodmanray.com\/pt\/news\/2025\/08\/domestic-abuse-protection-notices-orders\/","title":{"rendered":"Novos avisos e ordens de prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra os abusos dom\u00e9sticos\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Novos avisos e ordens de prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra os abusos dom\u00e9sticos\u00a0\u00a0<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>In March 2025, England and Wales piloted the new <strong>Domestic Abuse Protection Notices (DAPN)<\/strong> e <strong>Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPO)<\/strong> for police and Courts to follow so they can better assist victims of domestic abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These initiatives replaced the previous <strong>Domestic Violence Protection Notices (DVPNs)<\/strong> e <strong>Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPOs)<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The implementation of these changes resulted from efforts to provide victims of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodmanray.com\/pt\/our-expertise\/domestic-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">viol\u00eancia dom\u00e9stica<\/a> with more immediate and long-term protection following an incident of abuse.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a DAPN?\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When a police officer has reasonable grounds to suspect abuse has taken place, they can issue a <strong>Domestic Abuse Protection Notice (DAPN)<\/strong> with instructions that the alleged abuser must follow, such as having perpetrators stay away from victims\u2019 place of residence.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The police issue a DAPN to perpetrators of domestic abuse to provide immediate protection to victims from all forms of domestic abuse.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the police issue a DAPN, they will apply for a DAPO, which is usually heard by a Court within 48 hours.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a DAPO?\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO)<\/strong> is an order that the Courts and law enforcement can use to impose a variety of conditions and restrictions on a perpetrator of domestic abuse.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A DAPO must include mandatory information, meaning perpetrators must inform the police of their name, address, and any changes to that information within 3 days of the DAPO being made.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a case-by-case basis, a DAPO can also include a positive requirement calling for the perpetrator to take positive action including going through a behavioural changing program.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, should the Court feel as though a perpetrator may not adhere to the requirements of the DAPO,&nbsp;
