Charles is a CILEX lawyer and specialises in the law relating to children. He represents parents and wider family members in both public and private law proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Charles began his career at a local authority where he developed a keen interest in child protection law and procedure. His roles provided unique exposure to the governance of Serious Case Reviews and LADO investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since moving into private practice, Charles has represented local authorities, parents and intervenors in public law proceedings. He is instructed in a range of complex cases, including where there are allegations of non-accidental injuries, domestic abuse and sexual abuse. Many of Charles\u2019 cases overlap with criminal proceedings or have an international element.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Charles is regularly instructed in private law cases concerning child arrangements, often where there are allegations of domestic abuse and\/or alienating behaviours. He is also instructed in relocation cases and in proceedings under the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court. Charles has a growing \u2018modern families\u2019 practice and has been instructed in some of the leading cases concerning conception, legal parentage and parental responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Charles has established legal clinics at a number of prisons, providing free legal advice in relation to family law matters. He is also an SRG Advisor to CILEX, informing policy and practice decisions.
