A Leader in the field
Domestic violence can be experienced by all types of people, whether rich or poor, young or old, male or female, gay or straight.
It not only affects the adults involved but has an enormous effect on any children present.
How we can help
Any violence or even threat of violence that takes place between relatives or people in a relationship is called ‘domestic violence’ or ‘domestic abuse’. It can happen in families, in couples (whether married or not), between people who are going out together, or even just among ‘friends’. Domestic violence includes hitting, kicking, biting, shoving or any form of physical attack. It also includes bullying, emotional or sexual abuse, intimidation or limiting someone’s freedom, without any physical violence taking place.
Forced marriage and “honour-based” attacks are also forms of domestic abuse.
Everyone has the right to live a life free of domestic violence and abuse.
Our Domestic Violence Team has experience in all areas of domestic violence law and will provide emergency advice on how to protect you and any children involved. Because we work closely with other agencies such as the police, refuges and Local Authorities, we can explain all the options open to you so you can make informed decisions to help keep you and your children safe.
Emergency Action
If you are at immediate risk, we will act quickly and effectively to obtain Court Orders to protect you and your family and we will take whatever steps are necessary to ensure such Orders are enforceable for your safety.
